This is just a status update really. I had this site on a cheap hosting account that was paid yearly, but the time was up at the end of August. I backed everything up and transferred the domain to Hostgator.
I’ve learned a lot about WordPress over the last few years, most by trial & error. I went with Hostgator for my other sites because it had cPanel, which seemed to be the dashboard most compatible with everything I’m doing online.
I didn’t really know what all I had to do to set everything back up. All the advancements and automation made me a little lazy. It’s been awhile since I had to setup a database or edit config files. That probably sounds Greek to most people coming online nowadays.
With the constant upgrades and automated installation sites and software, most take this stuff for granted. Well, I put it off for a few weeks and once I decided to reinstall, it turned out to be a lot more work than I planned.
I had a background in electronics and computer repair before coming online, and probably spent more time with them unplugged than actually powered up, but I found pretty much anything I wanted to learn by manuals and help files in the early 80’s. So once I got online, I was just like a sponge, absorbing everything I could.
All that research paid off today.
Now that it’s in a more permanent location, I plan on spending a lot more time on adding some quality stuff, regularly.
Thanks for your time.
